| | Amanda Ghost - Idol | ] | Ya turn your back for one minute and the next thing you know your Live Journal ups and dies on you. Oh well, last time my LJ rose from the dead like the Phoenix only to get plucked out of the sky by the hawk known as Life. Perhaps this time my LJ will be less likely to fail if I raise it from the internet dead by making it something of a zombie.
So my birthday way back in 12 of September went off lovely. Thanks to all who participated. Speaking of birthday celebrations a big cheer for Toby who just celebrated his this past Tuesday in style at Strange Brew in Manchester. It was a real throw down event that almost ended in a brawl (Toby's visiting friend Ryan almost got ate by a bouncer) but luckily went down smooth (except for the ceramic dishes which mysteriously found their way home with us). Needless to say we definitely made a dent in the 151.
In other news I continue to play the game of, "Talk about going back to school but do nothing to advance this idea" (look for it this Christmas at all fine toy stores). The good news though is that I DID get that raise I mentioned last time. As a matter of fact I might be up for a promotion of sorts (fingers crossed). So that's where that stands (or sits, or lies, or whatever IT does).
A shout out to my friend across the Atlantic Sarin Va who is well and malaria free in Africa. Sarin buddy I got your e-mail, messages from mutual friends, and carrier pigeons. I would love to contact you but think I may have lost your e-mail. Hopefully you will read this and feel satisfied.....(set myself up for that one). Hope everything is well buddy. When the time comes to road trip you know who to call. We're all still planning a trip over to see you in the future so don't mess up the place! Perhaps some day I will ask you how to get rid of this damned Lindsay Lohan background!
That's it for now. Heads up for the 29th though. Halloween party right here. For my closing words I thought I'd butcher the words of Bon Jovi (I think 10 Pin Stadium officially canceled karaoke night after my recent performance)....
Keep on livin' on that prayer ~Phil |

| | chipper | ] | I am so so SO glad I joined up with Oxford. Great co-workers, interesting work, and a possible (let's hope definite) pay raise in a month. Things on the job front are going well although I still want to save some cash to go back to Graduate school. My current job is good for the time being and definitely has room for some sweet advancement, but I feel that I'm capable of a lot more. It's kind of like this conversation I had with Toby and John a few weeks ago. It's a little tough to describe but it all had to do with initiative and drive. Most of my friends and I are at that point in our lives where there are a variety of doors open to us. Let's hope we all have enough determination to not settle for the doors that seem the easiest to gain entrance to.
Well, I'd like to write a little more, but Courtney has informed me that it is time to go to see, "Wedding Crashers." Catch you sll later. |

| | exhausted | ] | Well, I think everyone knows by this point that I am the king of updating my journal (insert snide remark here). Now on to the updating.
So I think I mentioned in one of the last posts that I have a new job now and it has been going pretty well. I really like my new coleagues. As a matter of fact we are all going out in a few weekends time to hang out. More on the job in a later post.
Many of you might be wondering about the title of this entry. Many a month ago Courtney and her folks had discussed a suitable graduation present. After much talk they came to the conclusion that a trip was in order for all of her hard work. Being the awsome companion I am (travel or other wise) Courtney invited me to go on this trip with her. At first she was very unsure of where she wanted to go for this trip. At the top of her list was Hawaii. Unfortunately Hawaii turned out to be a much too expensive endeavour so we went with her second choice which was California. What follows is a rough account of our time there.
WEDNESDAY- We leave super early for our flight out of Manchester airport. Emily is a saint and wakes up at 4AM-ish to drop us off at the airport. Everything goes smooth and we are on the plane in roughly an hour's time. This is the short part of the flight that will take us to Atlanta (Hot-lanta if you're bad and freaky). I use the time on the plane to finish reading, "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy". We arrive in Hot-lanta where we have time to grab a bite before boarding another flight that will now take us to our final stop in the O.C. (more specifically Santa Ana). The second half of the flight goes smoothly and I start to read, "The Forensic Files of Batman". The only snag in the entire trip comes when we attempt to pick up our rental car. For some reason it happens to not only be the longest (make that the only) line at the rental car counter but they are giving away cars that they do not have ready to be driven off. After an hour and 20 minutes we finally leave for the hotel. The hotel is like a blinged out Holiday Inn. Being the hotel expert I am (Thank you Holiday Inn's of Nashua, Portsmouth, and Manchester) I look it over thoroughly and give it the seal of approval. One very awsome feature is the free happy hour from 5:30pm-7pm. Feeling slightly exhausted from the time lag Court and I decide to grab dinner before her family's friends show up to give us our free theme park tickets. California has lots of beautiful people and lots of horribly fatty food joints. Don't ask me how that math works but it does. So we hop across the street and dine at "Jack in the Box". Quite a nice experience. I order a chibatta bread burger and enjoy the hell out of myself while trying not to dwell on how much my life expectancy has been lowered. After we greet the friend's (Suzy and Bryan) we call it a night
THURSDAY- Our first day starts off with a free breakfast at the Wooley hotel and Suites (this hotel knows how to treat people folks). Then we go to a nearby theme park called "Knott's Berry Farm." It has a lot of rides and the Snoopy gang. Kind of like a 6 Flags but with shorter lines and the feeling that you are getting more for your buck. Several awsome rides (particularly rollercoasters). After a long day of thrilling rides we head back to the hotel and call it a night.
FRIDAY- We head off towards the L.A. area to go hit up Universal Studios. The I-5 is Courtney's worst nightmare. The traffic is awful but she handles it like a champ. We arrive just before opening (always a great idea when visiting a theme park) and hit the Back to the Future ride first. This turns out to be not only fun but a great idea since it then becomes the ride with the longest wait for the rest of the day. Courtney wants to ride the Jurassic Park ride 5 times but I haggle her down to 3. A thrill every time. The Curse of the Mummy ride was cool (but kind of short). Courtney hates it and demands they bring back the E.T. ride. As a much older version of a kid now I thrill to the backlot tour where we get to see one of the sets from War of the Worlds. The special effects show was cool and I got to help out on stage for a small part of it (let's just say it involved me getting in touch with my inner Tinkerbell and leave it at that). Court and I decide we were way impressed with the War of the World set and will go see the movie at the huge ass theater they have at Universal Citywalk (the place to go if you want an awsome time that combines the weird with the cool to a club feel). After we get stuck in crazy traffic on the I-5 leaving the L.A. area. No wonder this state is full of brown air.
SATURDAY- Taking a break from the theme park circuit we decide to head to Hollywood. We arrive and are super shocked that unless you are a celebrity attending the Oscars it is not worth the time to spend a day at what is clearly a tourist trap. We snap a few pictures and pay for admission to a museum with a crappy tour guide. After having lunch at Burger King and realizing you have to pay to use the restroom we call it an early day and go back to the hotel for free drinks and a dip in the jacuzzi.
SUNDAY- The big one. Disneyland and California Adventure. We are there just as it opens. Apparently the 50th anniversary is in a week or so and everything is super clean and renovated looking. I ride a lot of the rides which while not exactly an adrenaline rush are still fun. Some of my favorite things were the Indiana Jones ride, The redone Space Mountain (nearly lost Courtney's sun glasses and the rental car keys), The animation workshop in California Adventure was awsome (especially seeing original character designs for a lot of famous Disney folk), The Twilight Tower of Terror was so awsome it had to be ridden twice, Although California Adventure doesn't have a lot of rides they are all really fun, and finally the electric light parade which featured a float catching fire. Courtney was the cutest thing in the world as she slowly transformed into a little kid over the course of the day. The fireworks and visuals were just incredible. All in all a fantastic time. I really didn't expect to enjoy myself as much as I did.
MONDAY- Our last day before we leave. We decide to sleep in way late and go to the beach. We arrive at Laguna Beach to find it is cloudy and the water is brown with lots of swirling sea debris. A very disappointing experience. Oh well, I have now been to both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Go me. Court and I decide to keep things cheap (we don't have a lot of money as it is) and eat out at Carl's Jr. (ya know the commercial that had Paris Hilton eating a sandwhich while washing a car? This is the place that makes the sandwhich) I am amazed (and slightly tempted) by the regular menu and the $6 burger menu which boasts very tasting and ridiculously bad for you burgers. Then we go and hardcore abuse the hotel happy hour for 6 free drinks each. Yum. We turn in early and prepare for another early morning leading into a long day.
TUESDAY- Everything on the trip back is smooth again except for when we have to catch our connecting flight in Chicago. It is giving the final boarding call just as we rush to get on the plane. A very busy but awsome vacation overall. If you';re looking for pictures Court might have some on her LJ. That's it for now folks. |

| | the new Amber Pacific album | ] | So not too long ago my Dad hurt his back pretty bad somehow and slipped a disk or something. Naturally this has made things a little tough for the fam in Nashua so yesterday I voluntereed to drive him to his physical therapy session and do some little chores. It turns out that there was only one chore and it was a big one. Mow the lawn.
Now, before I go any further I should explain something. Waaaaay back in the day when I was maybe 13ish my Dad came and told me I would be mowing the lawn. This frightened me for several reasons. I had very bad allergies that did not get along well with the outdoors in particular, cut grass. In addition I was something of a wuss back then and the loud, fume spewing mower scared me a little. Finally, I was a newly minted teen and did not like manual labor nor working for money.
It was quite the nostalgic experience being out there again. Of course, I no longer fear the mower and I found it much easier to push with my adult man muscles. The whole time I was doing it though I couldn't help but think about how far I have come since way back then. Really makes you (or rather me) think.... Anyway, I also finished up some final new job application jazz online, put the finishing touches on my college loan consolidation application, and got an oil change. A very productive day for me.
Looking towards the weekend, this Saturday my roommate and I are having our first party at our new apartment. If you would like more info please don't hesitate to contact me. It should be a really nice time especially if the weather is good to us (Please be good to us!). Also, it looks like Court and Emily could be moving to my neighborhood in a few weeks (YAY!). Besides that I have the California trip to look forward to in roughly a month. All in all, things are finally improving. Go life! |

| Prologue: Summer |
[May. 30th, 2005|08:43 pm] |
So another miracle occurs as I make another post without the passing of months. But enough of that, on to business. I totally did this Star Wars astrological sign thing and look what I turned up!
Star Wars Horoscope for Virgo
Star wars character you are most like: C3P0
You show efficiency when working for a good cause. But you tend to be a bit fussy when it comes to doing something out of the ordinary. Like many Virgos, you want to stay out of the spotlight. You do well at picking up the smallest details.
I am not a homosexual droid! That's almost as funny as Courtney's quote, "Just because you have ants in your house does not mean you're dirty." I can not express how much that amused me when I read it in her LJ. She just left today after a pleasant weekend visit. I already miss her lots. Although, lately she's been acting kind of depressed. I'm not quite sure what the problem is though because she tends to have trouble opening up to me about things that bother her. I'm thinking she's a little nervous about moving to Manchester in July when she finishes her internship. If so, I can relate. Moving to a new place can be weird. Especially when you are finishing college and beginning your official life as an adult. Either way, I hope my plucky girlfriend cheers up mighty soon because I love her ooooooo so much : )
The weekend overall was good though. I got to see some friends of mine who, like Courtney, are recent college grads (Jonah and Lauren) along with some more of the Portland Crew (Ryan and Heather). We all had dinner at Margarita's of Portsmouth. I decided to be macho and cool by ordering my meal with habenero fuego sauce. It was so so SO hot that not even Sarin Va could eat it without dying (Va, consider that a challenge). After the tastey (but HOT) dinner we went to Jonah and Lauren's new place in Kittery and hung out for a bit.
So far the summer has been turning out pretty well. Mr. John Phipps is back in town after finishing up at Plymouth and it is MARVELOUS to have the old gang of Phipps, Toby, and myself back together. Speaking of which, tonight is John's birthday so merry wishes to him.
On the job front I will soon be leaving the hotel! YAY! I have a very nice (and better paying) job set up at Oxford Health Plans in Hooksett. Here's to new beginnings! |

| | Fallout Boy | ] | Well, I would have almost sent this whole LJ thing up as another failed experiment at recording my life. Except here I am, back again. So of course it's been a super SUPER long time since I posted (as a matter of fact this may be the first post of 2005. wow). Anyway, here's a run down of what I've been up to.
First off I am now living in Manchester, NH. Words can not express the joy I feel at being out of Newmarket. God how that place sucked. After having lived there I can now officially say that I have lived in the closest possible thing to a crackhouse. However, Manch-Vegas is waaay better. I am sharing a 2 bedroom (did ya hear that?! My first apartment with more than one room!) with one of my best friends Toby (We did the Nashua High thing Senior year and then he went to Plymouth while I went to UNH but we always stayed in touch).
I am still in the hotel biz. Probably the only bad thing about moving was the fact that I had to take a $2 pay cut to work closer to home. I mean, I loved the HI Portsmouth but I really didn't want to kill my new car driving an hour to work each night and an hour back each morning. So onward I toil as I try to move out of the hotel industry and into something closer to my major (political science) or at least something that pays better. It's kind of funny and sad in a way. Looking back on when I was in college I realize now that I was not nearly as prepared as I should have been for graduation. Then again I wasn't completely sure on what I wanted to do with my life until Senior year. Lately I've thought, "If I could go back and change things would I?" It's a question I'm sure we all ask ourselves and probably one of the most difficult to answer. I feel that if I could I would probably change a FEW of the things I did. Then again I had a good time, met great friends, and did okay for myself. Oh well.
Speaking of college, Courtney finally graduated! She still has about a month and a week left to do of her internship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in West Lebanon, but she got to graduate with the rest of the '05 Class of UNH this past weekend. It was also the first time that our parents met (GASP!) Thankfully, it turns out that they liked each other and got along just super. I can hardly believe that my sweet monkey has been away from me for nearly six months now. It will be awsome once she is done for good next month and is living in Manchester with Emily. On a final note about Court's graduation, the speaker was Tom Werner (part of the Carsey Werner team that developed shows like, "the Cosby Show" and apparently Mr. Werner is also chairman of the Red Sox along with the current boyfriend of Katie Couric of the Today Show). He was much better than my speaker last year when I graduated. He mentioned something about people rushing as fast as possible to try and move up that ladder once they're out of college and how it took him several years before he achieved his success. It made me feel better about being where I am now. To be honest I had recently felt slightly ashamed that I had been one of the first out of my group of friends to graduate and here I am a year later with nothing really to show for it. So a big thank you to Mr. Werner for making me feel like less of a failure.
In other news I saw Star Wars Episode III and enjoyed it thoroughly. Check my web page for my review of it. Besides that things have been okay. I'm trying to find a creative outlet for my pent up creativeness (that was the most lame way to put it but it's late and I'm afraid if I stop typing I'll give up on this entry). The notion of writing again has seemed like more and more of a thing to do. If I can find the time pull myself away from the little everyday distractions of life. Hmmmm what else. Oh yes, Jonah (Bonah) and his soon to be wife (she hopes) Lauren have moved to Kittery, ME. Sarin (Rusty) Va will be leaving us all in a few more months to join Peace Corps and go to Cape Verde Africa for 2-3 years. Toby and I are having our first party at our new place in a few weeks. Expect to be invited soon if you haven't already.
Check back in a few for my report on who out of the college crew will be getting married first! |

| | Party Ben's mash up of Green Day, Oasis, and Travis | ] | What wonderous films await us in 2005? Here is a special review of some of the films of 2005 (all of which have trailers available for viewing at moviefone.com).
STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH Wow! What can you say? The final installment of the series looks incredible enough. Let's hope that the story can redeem the rest of the prequels thus far.
SIN CITY So super psyched for this! Based on the hit comic book series about a bunch of unsavory characters who are the main focus of this very dark crime/detective series. It looks pretty cool from the trailer and the cast is absolutely top notch. Not so sure how I feel about the mix of black and white and color. It worked in the comic but I don't know if it'll play well on the big screen. Definitely a film to keep an eye out for this April.
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY I saw a poster advertising this film recently and thought Johnny Depp looked kind of creepy (kind of like a well dressed cousin of Edward Scissor Hands). The trailer just confirmed this thought. I don't know why, but I found the trailer to be kind of scary. Although the little bit of slapstick at the end makes me think that perhaps being directed by Tim Burton the film is entitled to have a slight creep factor. Either way, the new Willy Wonka needs to get out in the sun more often.
KICKING AND SCREAMING Will Ferrell is the sports coach we've all seen and hate. I'm really not feeling this film at all. Then again, I didn't like the looks of Elf at first. Maybe this will be a similar situation where the trailer is bad but the film is good.
ICE PRINCESS Michelle Trachtenberg, of the now cancelled Buffy the Vampire Slayer t.v. show, stars as one of those clumsy teens who doesn't fit in. Until she realizes she kind of is good at skating. I rather liked this trailer if only for the fact that it takes a different approach to the whole "fitting in" thing instead of having her reinvent herself to be popular. You've gotten my attention little teeny bopper film. Now don't let me down...
MR. AND MRS. SMITH Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are a married couple who have no idea that they are both assassins. That is, until they both take on an assignment where they have to assassinate each other. Sounds rather odd but the trailer seemed to indicate that they were able to pull off a non-cheesey film that's high on action.
THE PINK PANTHER JEAN RENO!!!!! If you have no idea who I am talking about you need to do the following things. Step away from the computer and go watch, "The Professional." It's okay. I'll wait.........Done? Good. Now you know the greatness of Jean Reno (Not to mention awsome performances by Natalie Portman AND Gary Oldman). Anyway, Steve Martin takes on the role Peter Sellers made famous in this prequel of sorts. I'm game to give it a chance but the fact that Beyonce Knowles is in it makes me want to vomit. A lot.
RING 2 I only found the last 10 minutes of the first one (and that includes the original upon which it was based, "Ringu") to be scary. Maybe this one will be a little more frightful. Depends on if they follow the Japanese version again (Ringu 2). Apparently there's a whole bunch of sequels over there in the far east. In the mean time we can sit and ponder why the trailer for Ring 2 makes you think they made another Poltergeist film.
WAR OF THE WORLDS The trailer doesn't show us a whole lot but if you know anything about the original then you know there will be aliens of the very unfriendly kind. Cruise and Spielberg did okay together on, "Minority Report." Let's see how they tackle a remake of a sci-fi classic.
That's it for now. Sorry I did not have an actual review for you all to check out on my website. I will have two for next week. I'm sure I'll see most of you at the Gables New Years Eve party tomorrow. If not, have a safe and happy one. |

| | none | ] | Huzzah, my internet problems have been fixed and I am now back to my old updating self. In this post instead of talking about all the nitty gritty of what I've been up to over the past couple of weeks, I wanted to talk about two subjects. Christmas and stalking. Now I know these may not seem like subjects which really relate to each other all that well. As a matter of fact they don't. At least, not as far as my post is concerned.
First off Christmas. I think that the last time I really felt like it was Christmas was back in 2000 when I was a Freshman at UNH. With all of the students clearing out of campus after finals (me being the last one to check out of my dorm room), loads of snow on the ground (library hill was the spot to sled), and the slow drive home to see the family for the holidays it just felt special. In the years since then I have been stuck working at one job or another around the holidays. Perhaps this is why Christmas just hasn't been the same for me for the past four years. There's something about being off on your own for the first time and getting to have a month or so to go spend back home with your family and friends with no worries or responsibilities. It really allows you to contemplate the season and appreciate it just a little more. I think more to the point though, it was the last Christmas I enjoyed before officially becoming an adult. I'm sure most of you are shocked by that statement. What? But party-meister Phil was still chugging beer with the best of them years after that. True, I was still the wild and crazy party guy. I think though that it was the last time that I celebrated Christmas with that spark of childhood innocence.
Now, on to my second topic. Stalking. Recently there was a post made on this very same Live Journal by a friend I have not seen since last May. She made a post addressed to someone else about getting together with them or some such thing. What caused me to become curious was the fact that I have no idea how she came to know about my LJ nor for how long she has been reading it. Sound familiar? That's because you've probably experienced the same thing whether you've been the stalker or the stalked. Now of course I don't have a problem with this person reading my LJ or posting on it. But I have to wonder why now? Did this person just recently stumble across my journal? Has this person been silently waiting in the virtual shadows for the right moment to make a post? Perhaps I should ask my girlfriend Courtney. She is a pro when it comes to online stalking. In a typical day she will check a variety of websites, blogs, and journals to see who has updated. She will do this numerous times during the course of a day. Some she comments on regularly. Others she will merely read and never post on. Why is it that many of us want to observe a person and their thoughts from a distance and never say a word? Are these journals just a real life soap opera to us? Or perhaps it is just that we do not want the added duty of actually becoming a part of this person's life. For whatever the reason, I encourage those silent stalkers of the online journal world to make yourselves known. Let people know you have taken an interest in their life. Remark on certain entries if only to let them know that there is someone out there who is watching.
Switching gears one last time before the obligatory goodbye, I wanted to briefly touch on a series of news reports recently talking about banning Christmas almost entirely due to the religious factors of the holiday. Obviously the people behind these moves are not trying to hate on those who find religious meaning in the holidays (at least one would hope they aren't) but merely trying not to offend those who do not share these same beliefs. While I am a huge fan of tolerance and acceptance, this seems to have gone a little too far. Why not just celebrate in your own way? Whether you are religious or not this season definitely has meaning to many many people. Instead of trying to shut down the meaning of the holidays for others, why not do something which shows why it is important to you? This is the perfect time of year to bridge gaps and increase understanding. Take a few moments out of your last minute shopping (slackers) to observe a religious or cultural celebration you normally wouldn't. If we were all to take the time this season to open our hearts to other viewpoints perhaps we would be understanding enough of others that we wouldn't have to worry about offending anyone with how we interperet the holidays.
On that note, I am off to spend the holidays wih my fam and Court's. Have an excellent and safe holiday season everyone~! |

| | Further Seems Forever | ] | So, where to begin. In my last post I mentioned how Wednesday everyone was gone and I saw, "Alexander" which sucked. It still does (See my review in MOTW). Thursday I got out of work at 7am and decided to hit the gym before going home. The gym was at fairly normal capacity which kind of surprised me. Once home I went to bed for a few hours before waking up to a very delicious meal. Thanks to the fam for that one. Around 9:40pm I was getting ready to leave Nash-Vegas and head straight for work when as I was dressing I realized I had no underwear (Don't ask, it's a very odd story). After resolving that situation I went in for another boring night of work.
Friday turned out to be quite an interesting if not odd day. I actually got some sleep after work (absolutely unheard of as of late) but not before remembering Jackie (not sure what the new spelling of her name would be so I'll do it old school)was in town and we had made plans to try and do something. We talked for a few on the phone and settled on the idea about maybe lunch or something. I woke up a little bit later than expected (thank goodness my alarm was set) and realized I had to go back to Nashua to gather the things I forgot to bring back to my apartment with me. Plus, I had to see Toby's play (Greater Tuna) in Manchester at 7:30. I soon discovered that my sleep must have been a heavy one because I slept through Jackie's phone call which stated she was out with her Mom and roommate and had to pass on lunch but that I should call later.
On my way down 101 I got a call from Toby saying that John Phipps was in town! He suggested that I call him so we could go to his play together. After a brief Thanksgiving dinner re-run John picked me up and we were off. I saw Toby perform this play (a two man show) for the first time 5 years ago (God I suddenly feel old) back when we were both still Senior's at Nashua High. I really wasn't a fan of it then, but this time I kind of enjoyed it. During intermission I called Jackie back and she said she was having a party with some friends and that I should stop by. After the show us guys decided to go out to the classic old Manchester hang out of the Red Arrow and have a bite. Toby's friend Ryan was there who goes to Emerson. I was quite shocked to find out that he knew someone in Jimmy's Traveling All Stars (I'll explain this some other time) and when I mentioned I had been a part of the No-Show he asked if I knew Nick Dackoulis (whom I had worked with on the No-Show and Academic Failures). Small World. Ryan brought up a point over our meal asking whether or not we found our only true friends were the ones we met before we started drinking. It gave me something to think about and I rsponded that the way I see it is that if I can remember numerous instances where I have hung out with the person and done alcohol free activities that I could consider them a friend and not just a "party pal." He then mentioned a party he went to for this girl's "100th." Apparently she had a party to celebrate that she had slept with 100 guys. Yep, your reaction is probably the same one that I had when he told me this.
After dinner Toby and John went for a special trip in Toby's car while Ryan and I stood outside and talked about film. He said that if I ever had the time I should come help him with some film projects he is working on at Emerson which was cool of him. That being done John and I headed back to Nashua where I loaded up the car and headed back home. It was fairly late at this point (midnightish) and I got a call from Jackie asking if I was still coming to her party. I detoured from Newmarket to Greenland and for the first time in a long time entered her home. I was kind of thrown back through time momentarily as I saw many many faces I had not seen in a while. Like several years to be sort of exact. I even shook hands with the elusive Justin without realizing it was him. Much to the laughter of everyone several minutes later upon exclaiming, "That's Justin!" At first I had this really weird vibe. Like I wasn't sure if everyone there welcomed me or not. But after a bit the ice thawed and things were fine. We played Turbo Cranium (which I found to be a somewhat cooler version of normal Cranium). We talked and got caught up on everything which was nice. The stupid ass Cranium game took hours upon hours to play though and finally it was 4am and time to go.
Saturday I went to Portland to see Courtney and her fam. Her and I took her brother to see Polar Express which was a decent holiday film. Although, Court got a little flustered (partly because I saw Jackie the previous night and partly because the movie times got slightly mixed up) but things turned out okay. Back at her place her parents were super cool and treated a boat load of us to a Chinese food dinner. While enjoying our meal we watched Elf which was as good as the first time. Soon after we began the journey back to campus where we turned in for the night after some personal time (after all, we hadn't seen each other in 3 days). Sunday we made sure Toby was alive (her fish not my friend of the same name) and settled in for a Boy Meets World marathon! It was like my entire awkward, Junior High, T.G.I.F. watching years came rushing back.
That's about that. |

| I got nothing |
[Nov. 24th, 2004|12:25 am] |
So let's see. A lot happened since the past entry. Friday I had a chance to go have a quick brew and appetizer with Va at the Tin Palace (Dublin Fries rock!) before meeting Court to go and see "Garden State" (her first time, my second). It was a very good night.
Saturday was the big night of the weekend as April and Toby joined Courtney and I to go see Spongebob Square Pants: The Movie. After that it was Burger King and straight to the drinking. Toby and April got drunk and made out all over the place. I (and many many others) threw up. Although, I was respectful enough to do it in the Gables hallway bathroom and not in Robyn's apartment. Courtney and I had a white-trash fight in A-Lot about nothing (no worries, we patched up later that very night). Somehow we came back with two bottles of hard alcohol that weren't ours (they will be returned to the rightful owner). We waited far too long for pizza which made me mad (until the delivery guy told me about the accident near my old apartment at Park Court and then I felt bad). To sum things up: it was a pretty crazy night.
Thanksgiving is later this week. Eat mad turkey. That's all I really have. My brain is broke again. |

| | a little of this, a little of that | ] | So this past weekend I was absent from the UNH party scene (which according to the Va's website was pretty super lame. Bummer). I was in Nashua where Friday night Court and I met up with Toby for some partying Nashua style. I finally got to show Court the weird shuffle board like game at Nashua Gardens and we went to Boston Billard's where Toby covered the drinks since the last time he and I went there I covered the bill (he even paid for Court's drinks! Now that's one hell of an awsome friend!). Saturday I took Court to see Bridget Jones and the edge of reason (see the review on my website) and then went into Boston to see Evita with my folks.
On the way into Boston we were going to stop and eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Since the last time my folks and I got lost and never found the place I made sure to get directions off the internet this time. The internet directions sucked and by the time we got there it was too late to wait. We ended up eating at California Pizza Kitchen which was not that bad. But let me state here and now my campaign to bring back the map! The real, longitude and latitude, get it out and find it yourself maps of yore.
Evita was one of those musicals that I had never really had any desire to see. However, it turned out to be better than I would have expected. The whole idea of political corruption and manipulation of the people still rings true today. My only complaint involved the ending which came off as slightly awkward.
Recently, an old pal from the past has resurfaced. Way back in the day I used to do film projects with this kid named Justin. On our last project we had kind of a falling out (no need to get into details. Let's just say that both of us handled things poorly and a good friendship was lost). Now that time has healed the wounds of the past though, it looks like good times shall be in large supply once more.
Finally, Court is feeling bummed about leaving UNH at the end of the semester so go to her blog and leave some warm wishes (http://www.livejournal.com/~wildcatprincess/) |

| | Sum 41 - "No Reason" | ] | Recently I've heard a lot of talk about the past and how much better things can look sometimes. It got me to thinking that perhaps certain events in the past seem so awsome because for that one point in time you were living for the moment. No thoughts of the future or where your life is headed. Just you a bunch of friends and some good times to be reflected upon down the road when you need a pick me up. Maybe it also has something to do with getting older and having more responsibility to contend with. Hmmm something to think about...
Anyway, setting my sights back to the present, I've realized how totally crazy life can be. I always had this neat and tidy plan for my life. Finish school, get a job, etc., etc. I realize now though that it's a lot more complicated than that. I think though that I've found where I want to end up (or at least have a few options for it). Now it's just a matter of getting there.
Hope everyone has a good time this weekend. I'll be thinking of ya. |

| | Dresden Dolls - "Coin Operated Boy" | ] | So, I saw the preview for Star Wars Episode III this weekend when Court and I went to see, "The Incredibles" (which I felt very pleased about since a lot of people did not see the preview with the movie like they were suppossed to). It was absolutely amazing. I know the previous two films have been rather ho-hum but I think this one will finally be what we the fans have been expecting.
In other news, this weekend I will be out of town since my parents are taking Courtney and I to see, "Evita" in Boston. I expect it to be a good time as always. My regards to those who will be partying in togas or doing it old school. We'll catch you all at the next one.
This past weekend was proof that you can have a chill non-drinking weekend and still have fun. Courtney and I met up with the 6x9 College forum crew at China Buffet and had a great time meeting each other, chatting, and generally being nerdy. After that we went to Hubbard and watched, "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey" (a classic). We took an hour break in the middle to go see some old Hubbard people at Libby's where the drinks were not all looking or tasting as they should (My Midori Sour was fabulous as always). Overall, it was a fun time. |

| | None | ] | Okay, so as is apparent from my post yesterday I was a little less than happy over Bush winning the election. However, I expressed my anger in a very raw and emotional manner instead of taking some time to blow off steam and approach the topic in a calmer and wiser manner. So first off, to anyone who voted for Bush that was offended by my post yesterday I formally apologize (which is more than you will get from other people who had the same feelings).
Bush won the election. To many who voted against Bush (and I say those who voted against Bush because that's the only reason 1/3 of Kerry voters voted for Kerry) this will of course be hard news to handle. To many it will seem like the end of the road. Time to go back into political hibernation for the next four years. My plea to you would be to not go that path. Politics for the American citizen is about much more than casting a vote every couple of years. Take further action and make your voice heard by getting involved with an organization that deals with the issues you care about. If you don't find one that fits, start your own. It is up to all of us to watch the second (and final) term of the Bush administration to ensure that he does not continue to make the same grevious mistakes that caused us all to vote against him in the first place.
Despite the fact that we may not have achieved our ultimate goal, we still accomplished a great deal. We made our voices heard and got a lot of people to take a second look at Bush and his actions throughout the first four years he was in office. Now is not the time to stop speaking out. Many have said that the nation is greatly divided and that we need to start, "rallying 'round the President" and putting our political differences aside. I say we should not allow ourselves to be swept under the rug so easily. Do not let ANYONE attempt to silence you and your opinions regarding those heads of state which now govern us. The only way people will change their minds and open their eyes to what's really going on is through education and tolerance. When you encounter that strong willed Bush supporter do not push them away but show tolerance for their belief's and through this tolerance attempt to educate them as to your own political point of view. Now more than ever we need to remain ever vigilant towards those in power and continue to raise our voices high. |

| | R.E.M. - "It's the End of the World As We Know It" | ] | So at this point many of you are probably asleep not knowing that as I type this George W. Bush is basically an Ohio away from winning the election. With another four years of Bush on the horizon all I have to say is: What. The. Fuck.
How is it possible that anyone with even a smattering of intelligence could vote for George W. Bush? Hey, here's an idea. I've always disliked Iraq for being a sketchy character. So instead of waiting to see if Sadam really DOES have weapons of mass destruction, let's just shit all over the whole concept of diplomacy and start sending young American men and women to their deaths. Wait! We can make it an even more PROFITABLE situation by taking Iraqi oil.
I love the fact that a bunch of stupid and ignorant people (who all tend to live in the same Mid-West/Deep Southern regions of the country) can just assume that because someone is our president that his actions are not subject to be questioned. Maybe they think that keeping a walking disaster like Bush in office another 4 years will give him the time he needs to "get better" at the job of running a nation.
Fine, Bush won. Nothing I can do about that. But there will never EVER be a day where I recognize George W. Bush as my president. |

| | bouncy | ] | At least I will be come this weekend. So, it has been another one of those funky things where I up and vanished from my Live Journal responsibilities for a few days/weeks. I begged and begged to have my very own Live Journal and now that I actually have it I don't want to feed it, walk it, or clean up after it. I'm so neglectful. Now on to the UPDATES!
Let's see, let's see. Updates. Hmmmmmmm. Oh yeah! I finally got my lazy play-dough like body off of the couch and into a gym. I now take up residence for my work out needs at the Planet Fitness in Dover. I really like the facility quite a lot. All of the machinery is very similar to the stuff at the UNH Whitt only it seems newer and more high tech. The staff there is really nice and I get free trainer sessions so I now actually have a working plan to get back in shape (one that doesn't involve the phrase, "I'd sell my soul for a better body"). And did I mention that the price ain't have bad either? I'll update now and again on how much weight I have lost. I just checked today and I'm a little over 220 (odd since I thought I had exploded to 230). More to come on my many gym exploits later (Like how my first timing using an elyptical(?) machine I looked and felt like Bill Murray in that scene from, "Lost In Translation."
My social calender has been quite packed full of fun lately. This past weekend Court and I went to visit the very awsome Tina-kins in Keene for Pumpkin Fest. We left Friday afternoon and made a pit stop in Nash-Vegas to see the family (who were sad they only got to see us for so short a time) and the ninja known as Toby. I am very happy to report that Court and Toby get along excellently. This is super important because I have a core group of friends (a few at UNH, the rest scattered to the four winds of New Hampshire and beyond) and their approval of my gal means a lot to me. Even if it means I got picked on by both Courtney and Toby during all of our yummy dinner at Longhorn's.
Even though we were slightly late in leaving Nashua, we made it to Keene before all the crazy fun started. As we arrived we saw the big stack of pumpkins all lit up and it was really cool. Too bad that by the time we parked and walked over to take a picture they had turned off the lights for the night. Also Tony Clamato's = smokiest college bar ever. Once Tina was off of work we went to The Railroad which was way too crowded and her friend from Jersey Kara told us to try this boilermaker type of drink called a Dr. Pepper shot (allegedly it's suppossed to taste like Dr. Pepper). Apparently the guy used Goldschlager instead of Amarretto though and as we dropped the shot into the beer and chugged we realized what an awful mistake that was. Although Kara assures us it is actually very good when made correctly. (P.S.- The psy-gasms = still good). On Saturday we briefly enjoyed looking at pumpkins and taking pictures before saying goodbye to Tina and going to see, "The Grudge" (see this week's MOTW on my website) before coming back to UNH for the first game of the World Series (Red Sox won yay!).
Okay, I just stepped away from writing this for 15 minutes so I could go up front and see what annoying fucker was banging on the counter and who should it be? Tom and Kim! So awsome to see those two. Kim is still in Newmarket and desperately needs to actually hang out with us again. Tom asked about Courtney and how she was. Kim chimmed in that she was really cool and that her and the other Kim liked her even before we started going out. Tom informed me that he recently got action from two hot female strippers (His family owns and operates Mac 2's in Billerica) so props to him. Even though I never would have expected him to do such a thing. ; P
So where was I? Oh yes. As earlier stated this weekend is the back to back Halloween parties at Sarin Va's and Robyn's. I expect it to be a very drunken weekend. Other than all of that there is not too much going on right now. I had a great idea for Courtney's birthday/Christmas present. Basically what I was gonna get her was.... Oh wait. Almost forgot that Courtney reads this LJ more than anyone else. Guess I'll just have to tell you all in private. For now, I'm out! |

How about those Red Sox? Just when they bring the game to 7-8 one slip up ends it all with us losing 7-10. Oh well, tomorrow (rather later today) is another game. Keep on believing Red Sox Nation.
So, some of you might be wondering about the title of this web log entry. The other day I did something that many people should but do not. I went to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Exeter and got a basic STD/HIV test done. Having been sexually active for quite a number of years (I have witnesses who can back this up) I had always taken the position of, "I'm not a man-slut so I can't possibly get any of those, "social diseases." However, the thought always lingered in the back of my head, "are you REALLY sure?" So I finally decided that it was time to treat my body right by making sure that my sex-cannon and brass ones were in clean working order. For some reason it seems that women tend to get tested more than men. At least, that was my impression as I was the ONLY dude at the clinic. I'll admit that at first I was a little nervous (and stupid Mapquest gave me the wrong directions and I had to stop at the Seacoast Mental Health clinic to get more accurate directions). However, when I finally arrived I found it to be a little less nerve wracking. The staff at the clinic is small and non-judgemental. Upon arriving I filled out the proper forms and was given some reading material along with a chart of STI's and the: symptoms, causes, and tests that applied to each one. It turns out that Ghonerea and Chlamydia are the two most common. Perhaps the most shocking thing I learned there though was that a lot of people can have a wide variety of STD's and not even know it since many times those who have it will show no symptoms of any kind. This bit of news made me feel way better about finally getting tested. After all, who wants to be walking around with that stuff inside them and not even know it? The procedures for testing were very straight forward. A urine specimen is all that is needed for the Ghonerea/Chlamydia testing (The hardest part of this was holding my pee two hours before the appointment and then trying to unleash it into one of those tiny pee containers). The HIV testing required a blood sample (No big deal for someone who loves getting tattoo's). There is also a questionaire to give the doctor that asks some personal questions about your sex life, but it's really no biggie. All in all, it's a simple and painless visit that will give you piece of mind and could get you mad action! After all, who doesn't love to hear that the person they are about to pleasure is clean of disease? If anyone has any further questions about the procedures or would like more info on the clinic feel free to contact me.
It has been a while since I have had a fairly interesting night at the hotel. Tonight (like an hour ago) I had this group of guys and gals in their mid 20's come in looking for rooms. Apparently they were up from Boston and were too drunk to drive home. I cut them a deal on the room rate and they thought I was the coolest white kid this side of New Hampshire. After inviting me to their rooms to, "party" and being called, "very cute" by the females (No worries Court, they did not even come close to being as attractive as I find you) they went upstairs with one last request for me to join them if I happened to go on break before I left at 7am. Although these kids were cool one thing bothered me. Who in Boston comes to Portsmouth to party? Apparently they were at, "Bannanna's" which I'm now wanting to check out if it is able to lure the Boston crowd.
That's about it for now. As usual, check out the website and leave me messages. |

| | None | ] | Another weekend has passed with both good and bad points having happened. First I will discuss the worst point of the weekend. Friday night I was at a party with Court and her sister. At this party was someone who I had recently come to know this past September and thought was a pretty okay/cool guy. At this party though, he decided it would be okay to tell my girlfriend that he would, "do her" if she was not dating me. While this is bad enough he then leaned over and told me the same exact thing. Had it been any random person I didn't know that usually tends to show up at these types of big college parties I would have, "had words" with him of the non-talking variety. Instead I was just very shocked and angered by his remark. The sad thing I should have expected it since the truth of the matter is this person was a straight up sleazy guy. I had known this for a while. The way he talked and acted around other girls (despite the fact that he had a girlfriend) said it all. Normally I hate guys like him because he ends up hurting some girl (emotionally) and then all other decent guys after him get crap for it. I think in general a lot of us guys have friends who are sleazy guys and we just let it go. There are several reasons for this but probably the biggest one is that we call these guys friends. We trust them. We know that they will never try to make a move or be sleazy towards our girlfriends, female family members, or friends from our crew. Basically, the golden rule is that they have and show respect for these important women in our lives. It is so disappointing to me to see that fewer and fewer guys are truly trustworthy anymore. That's not to say that all guys are sleazes. However, a very large portion of them are sleazes to one degree or another. For example, say you ask a group of men whether any of them have cheated on a girlfriend and you will get some raised hands (keep them in the air gents). Now let's ask another question. How many of them have ever fooled around with a close pal's girlfriend? More hands go up. What about while the close pal was still dating the girlfriend. A few more. Soon it becomes evident that fewer and fewer guys respect any kind of, "gentleman's code" these days. I think it is high time that men start showing more respect for women and their fellow man when it comes to sex and relationships and stop just acting upon the twitch they feel in their testicles.
Sorry for the rant, but it needed to be said. Now that I am done with the bad, on to the good. Saturday was freaking awsome. Court had the genius idea of taking the UNH foilage trip. Basically, it was a trip on the isle of shoals steamship in Portsmouth. It took us along the river and was generally very chill. A great way to spend the non-party part of our weekend. Plus, I got to see some people I had not seen in a while on the boat which was cool and earlier in the day I got a voice mail from Tina in response to Sarin and I calling her the previous night. Also, Court got some good pictures and we saw this incredibly spooky looking old prison that was abandoned thirty years ago and kind of looks like a castle. Apparently it was some sort of military brig. After that, the lady and I met up with our friends Bush and Amy in Portsmouth for a couple's dinner. We ate at Molly Malone's in downtown which is a huge favorite of mine. It has some real bitchin' British/Irish cuisine and on this particular visit they were serving hot cider with CAPTAIN MORGAN'S! It was the kind of warm drink you have in front of a roaring fireplace as you snuggle with a loved one. That was pretty much the weekend. I'd write a little more but I'm kind of tired. |

| | Green Day - "Jesus of Suburbia" | ] | Well, it looks like I forgot I had this whole Live Journal thing. At least, that's what I keep telling myself to avoid feelings of guilt for not updating it for such a long while. Anyway, I wish I could say I was off doing important things, but I wasn't. Instead of giving a big long boring rundown of every little thing that was missed over the past few weeks I will simply talk about the jazz that I think is interesting and fill in the important stuff over the next couple of entries.
I have decided to attempt to launch my non-existent career in voice acting by sending in an audition tape to Marvel for an animated DVD they are making based on the ULTIMATES comic book series. I will try to get picked up as the voice of Iron Man. It's an open casting call so we will see what, if anything, happens with it. First of course I have to make the 2 minute video tape. If anyone wants to help holler.
In other creative type news, I HAVE A COMIC! Yes, that's right. I finally got motivated to do more creative things with my free time and finally wrote a comic which my friend from the Holiday Inn (Matt) is now in the process of illustrating. As of right now I do not have any kind of title for it. Basically though, it involves this guy named Jason who is a recent college graduate who finds himself disillusioned with the real world. His life gets slightly wacky when a pirate falls through a time warp and ends up his roommate. It's a comedy that will have some serious moments, but for the most part I see it as one of those things that mixes reality with a sense of the bizare.
On the party front, this past weekend saw the joint b-day celebration of Alicia and Katie. Much fun was had by all. Maybe it was just the fact that all I had to drink was a very mild bottle of cold duck, but it seemed that a lot of the regulars got more drunk than normal (Jonah, I'm looking at you). Besides the random appearance of many, many strangers it was a sweet time. As always, pictures are available for viewing on Sarin's website.
Looking to the future, this weekend Court's little sister (who may have lost the age battle but won the genetic gift of being tallest) will come to visit on Friday. This also happens to be the same day as the Band Kids "Pimps and Ho's" party. On Saturday with weather permitting we are going on a cruise along the coast to see some bitching color changing leaves.
That's about it for now. Sorry again for my late ass update. I'm sure you'll live though. |

| | Green Day - "American Idiot" (the album) | ] | So another weekend passes by. It was a very enjoyable one as Court and I got to visit my parents and see my sister's dog Tank again. This time instead of being all cute and innocent though he wanted to show us what a little devil he could be and went on to play with us non-stop for the entire night (he's still cute though). So, that was Friday. Saturday was a total change of gears as I was brought forth once more into the world that is Band Geek. A good time was had meeting Court's friends and partying down. Until the Va showed up with his wicked wicked tequila and sent me over the brink into mandatory vomit time. Huge apologies and thanks go out to my girlfriend for being the best ever and making sure I didn't get into/cause any trouble. Also, a big I'm sorry to Va for missing out on the first night of poker. I'll be there for round 2. Promise.
So, last night was the first night in quite a few months that I got sick from drinking. It made me decide that in order to save money and heal my internal organs I'm going to go on an alcohol-free break for a while. Hence, if you need a friend to hold your hair while you vomit at the party, I'm your pal. In addition, I feel this move will help me to lose a little weight. Something that has become rather stationary now that I no longer have access to UNH's free gym. Hopefully that will change or I'll find some poor shmuck's ID or something. By the way, Jonah needs to contact me about raquetball. On a final note, it appears Court misplaced her imitation Nalgene (green, sticker on it with "420") last night in her attempts to keep an eye on me and wait for Dominoe's to arrive. If anyone has seen it or has any ideas where it might be please contact her or me. I really don't wanna have to put up lost-and-found flyers. Now, it's time for what you've all been waiting for.
A lot of Star Wars fans put up a big stink a few years back when George Lucas went and re-tooled his original Star Wars trilogy. At the time people would say things like, "That's awful! He's ruining the series!" I really didn't see the big deal in it. Once again with the upcoming release of the trilogy on DVD these same people have come out of the wood works to gripe and complain because it will be the revised edition and not the original. Recently, I read an interview with George Lucas where he confronted this issue head on. Basically he said that when the original was released he did not consider it to be completed. Hence, he has gone back and made alterations to the point where he now feels satisfied. He even apologized to people who, "fell in love with a film that was only 30% complete." What I feel is the most important justification for his going back and making changes is that it's his work. Plain and simple. He is the artist and if he wants to make changes then it is his right to do so. End of argument. So all of you "purists" out there should just shut your pie hole and be glad that the trilogy has finally even made it to DVD.
Speaking of Star Wars, there is a new game coming out for all platforms this Tuesday (The same day that the trilogy releases) called "Star Wars: Battlefronts." It can be played: One player, Two player, or Online Multi-player. The best part being that this game lets you fight in classic Star Wars battles from ALL 6 FILMS!!! FROM A VARIETY OF SIDES! (Rebel, Imperial, Free-lance, etc.) I really hope there is a fellow nerd with a huge ####### (figuratively speaking. All persons showing up at my door step with ######## will be promptly turned away.) who will want to max out this game with me.
This Tuesday just keeps getting better as it is also the release of the new Green Day album! I just finished listening to it on MTV.com "The Leak" and it's definitely a step forward for the band and a must buy.
Forget Tuesday! This entire week kicks ass as the new Fall TV season starts! In particular I am excited for returning shows: Everwood, Smallville (I really hope Chloe died when the house exploded because I dislike her greatly.), One Tree Hill, and some shows that Court got me into like One and a Half Men, The Amazing Race, and some other jazz.
Okay, this was a long one. So pat yourself on the back for making it this far (and cover your genitals!). As always, I appreciate any and all feedback, thoughts, arguments, erotic tales, challenges to duel, and praise you may have. |
